Uttar Pradesh Police Detain 15 Individuals for Unauthorised Protest Against Yati Narsinghanand in Meerut

Fifteen individuals were detained by Uttar Pradesh Police on Tuesday for leading an unauthorised protest in Meerut's Mundali area. The demonstration, which took place a day earlier, was against the controversial priest Yati Narsinghanand. Officials reported that the protest involved religious slogans and escalated when participants allegedly attacked police officers, hindering their duties.

15 Arrested in Meerut for Protest Against Yati Narsinghanand

The district police spokesperson stated that Haseen, along with around 200 people, organised the unauthorised rally. The group was reportedly armed with sticks and swords, inciting religious sentiments. Despite police efforts to disperse them, the protesters resorted to verbal abuse and attempted to assault the officers.

Police Intervention and Arrests

Police intervention was prompted after reports of stone-pelting emerged during the protest. An FIR was filed against 180 individuals under various provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. Among these, 30 were named, while 150 remained unidentified. The incident was taken seriously by authorities.

Following instructions from the Senior Superintendent of Police in Meerut, arrests were made under the leadership of Mundali Police Station in-charge Pramod Kumar Singh. Those arrested included Nawazish, Zubair, Zafar, Irfan, Shahzad, Nadeem, Sahane Alam, Sarfaraz, Chand, Alamgir, Maulvi Faisal, Shahzad, Ravis Khan, Zeeshan and Salman.

Background of the Protest

The protest on Monday saw hundreds of youths and children demanding action against Yati Narsinghanand for his alleged remarks about Prophet Muhammed. The priest from Ghaziabad's Dasna temple has faced multiple FIRs due to his comments. These remarks have sparked several protests across the state and beyond.

The situation remains tense as authorities continue to monitor developments closely. The police are committed to maintaining law and order while ensuring that such incidents do not recur in the future.
