Unable to face torture from uncle, 15-year-old sets herself on fire
The incident took place when the girl came to her house after college and immolated herself. After hearing the screams, the neighbours broke the back door and later shifted her to a hospital where she was declared brought dead. The neighbours said that the main door was locked from inside and her parents were away at the time of an incident.
Despite knowing about the incident, the parents of the girl decided to be silent in fear of family reputation.
However, when the family found a suicide note that mentioned the uncle as Saravanan, the family revealed that the accused is the correspondent of a private school invited their daughter to stay with him for a few days in September 2016 where he offered a cold drink filled with sedatives, After she was unconscious, he raped her and filmed the scenes on his mobile phone.
The parents added that the girl revealed about this matter when she attempted suicide in February this year. The parents, instead of taking action, just warned the accused and left the matter.
Even after the warning, the man is believed to have to call her, asking her to come home and sometimes threatened to circulate the video on social media. The Chennai police have launched a search operation to nab the accused, who is absconding after the death of a girl.
