Uma Bhartis Fiery Message to Congress, Left: Seek Forgiveness at Ram Temple
BJP leader Uma Bharti criticized Congress and Left parties for their role during the Ram Janmabhoomi agitation and urged them to visit the new Ram temple in Ayodhya as an act of atonement.
Bhopal: Senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Uma Bharti on Tuesday launched a scathing attack on the Congress and Left parties, accusing them of creating a toxic atmosphere during the Ram Janmabhoomi agitation. She advised them to visit the newly constructed Ram temple in Ayodhya without an invitation as an act of atonement for their past actions.

Recounting Agitation Memories
Bharti, who was an active participant in the Ram Janmabhoomi movement, shared her memories of the agitation. She asserted that the country's first Prime Minister, Jawaharlal Nehru, attempted to appease both Hindus and Muslims, which ultimately led to the demolition of the Babri mosque on December 6, 1992.
"Visit Ram Temple Without Invitation"
Bharti expressed her displeasure over the alleged exclusion of Congress and Left leaders from the Ram temple consecration ceremony scheduled for January 22. She challenged them to visit the temple uninvited, take a dip in the Saryu river, and seek forgiveness from Lord Ram by holding their ears.
Dispute Over Namaz at Ayodhya
The former Union Minister claimed that Namaz was not offered at the disputed structure in Ayodhya even before the appearance of Ram Lalla inside the premises in 1949. She attributed the demolition of the structure to Nehru's decision to lock the premises to appease Muslims while allowing puja in the morning and evening to please Hindus.
Congress's Dilemma
Bharti accused the Congress of being in a dilemma due to its tradition of appeasing both Hindus and Muslims. She asserted that the party has no faith in Lord Ram or the concept of Ram Rajya and is only interested in securing votes.
Ram's Existence and Karsevaks' Sacrifice
The BJP leader highlighted the Congress government's affidavit in the Supreme Court, which stated that Ram was an imaginary figure. She questioned why Karsevaks, who participated peacefully in the agitation, were shot in the head and chest without warning. Bharti demanded to know why then Prime Minister P. V. Narasimha Rao failed to initiate a trial against the then Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mulayam Singh Yadav and police officials responsible for the violence.
Importance of Mathura and Kashi
Bharti emphasized the significance of Mathura and Kashi, along with Ayodhya, as important religious places for Hindus. She expressed her unwavering faith in the construction of a grand temple in Mathura, the birthplace of Lord Krishna, regardless of court orders.
Uma Bharti's statements have reignited the debate over the Ram Janmabhoomi agitation and the role of various political parties in shaping the events that led to the demolition of the Babri mosque. Her challenge to Congress and Left leaders to visit the Ram temple without an invitation has added a new dimension to the ongoing discourse surrounding the temple's consecration ceremony.
