Statue of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Pulled Down in Ujjain, Clashes Erupt
A statue of former deputy prime minister Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel was pulled down by unidentified persons in Madhya Pradeshs Ujjain district, leading to clashes between two communities. No injuries were reported in the clash. Policy personnel were deployed in large numbers in the area, while two senior officers were suspended for alleged negligence.
In a disturbing turn of events, members of two communities engaged in a violent clash in Ujjain, Madhya Pradesh, following the pulling down of a statue of former deputy prime minister Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel by unidentified individuals on Thursday morning. Fortunately, no injuries were reported during the confrontation.

Deployment of Police Personnel
To maintain law and order, a substantial number of police personnel were promptly deployed in the Makdone area, situated approximately 50 kilometers from the district headquarters, where the incident occurred. Additionally, two senior officers were suspended due to allegations of negligence in handling the situation.
Viral Video Captures the Incident
A video of the incident, which quickly went viral on social media platforms, depicted a group of individuals using a tractor to pull down the statue of Sardar Patel. According to police sources, the motive behind this act was the demand for the installation of a statue of social reformer and the chief architect of the Indian Constitution, Dr. B. R. Ambedkar, at the same location.
Investigation Underway
The statue of Sardar Patel had been installed near the Makdone bus stand late Wednesday night. However, Additional Superintendent of Police Rural, Nitesh Bhargav, clarified that they were still determining the exact time of the statue's installation. A thorough investigation is currently underway to gather all the necessary details, after which appropriate cases will be registered. Fortunately, no injuries were sustained during the incident.
Additional Security Measures
To ensure the safety and security of the area, additional police forces have been deployed, and the situation is now completely under control. The stones hurled by members of the two communities during the clash have been removed from the spot in Makdone.
Suspensions for Negligence
Taking the incident seriously, divisional commissioner Sanjay Goyal suspended the in-charge chief municipal officer (CMO), Sanjay Malviya, while Ujjain Superintendent of Police (SP), Sachin Sharma, suspended Makdone police station in-charge Bhim Singh Devda on charges of negligence.
