Teenage Stabbing Victim in Udaipur Dies, Security Tightened for Funeral
A 15-year-old boy, Devraj, who was stabbed by a fellow student, succumbed to his injuries on Monday after battling for life for four days. The incident had sparked communal violence in Udaipur. Before his passing, his sister tied a rakhi on his wrist in the hospital on Raksha Bandhan, according to Udaipur Collector Arvind Poswal.

Inspector General of Police Udaipur Ajaypal Lamba confirmed that Devraj died during treatment and his body has been moved to the mortuary for postmortem. The body will be handed over to the family after the procedure. He urged the public to maintain peace.
Security Measures and Internet Suspension
In response to the violence, extensive security measures were implemented across the city. Mobile internet services were suspended for another 24 hours until 10 pm on Tuesday, police reported. Heavy police deployment was observed outside the district hospital and additional forces were stationed in various parts of the city to ensure law and order.
Devraj's last rites are scheduled for Tuesday, officials stated. Meanwhile, Udaipur MLA Tarachand Jain announced that the deceased student's family would receive Rs 51 lakh as compensation. The state government has agreed to this compensation, along with a fast-track trial of the case, a contractual job for one family member, and security provisions for the family.
Incident and Aftermath
The tragic incident occurred on Friday when Devraj was attacked by a fellow student outside their school over an unspecified issue. Following the attack, local police detained the accused student and arrested his father. The violence led members of Hindu outfits to set cars ablaze at a motor garage and vandalise a shop in a mall.
Due to the prevailing tension, all government and private schools in Udaipur were closed until further notice. Additionally, prohibitory orders banning the assembly of people were imposed in the city to prevent further unrest.
The situation remains tense as authorities continue to monitor and manage the aftermath of the incident.
