Uber offers free pick-n-drop to hospitals, clinics, labs
Mumbai, Apr 8: Taxi-hailing application Uber today said it will be ferrying passengers for free in the financial capital, if the journeys are for seeking medical help.
The service, launched in association with the healthcare network Oxxy, "will provide free pick and drop services to every hospital, diagnostic and path labs in Mumbai," Uber said in a statement.
The statement further said the service was first launched in Delhi, where the alleged rape of a 25-year-old MNC worker by one of its drivers had brought the US-based taxi hailing company a lot of flak and regulatory glare.
The company did not specify how long the service, which will be available from the World Health Day, will be available.
People wanting to visit a hospital/clinic/pathological lab can book a Uber cab, which can reach the person in up to 30 minutes, it said.
Stressing that the service is free of cost and includes both drop and pick-up, a company executive said passengers will be offered discounts if they are going to a private medical or diagnostic centre.
