U’khand: Disabled girl waits for reunion with parents after being abandoned by them 6 months ago
A disabled girl has been abandoned by her parents in Haridwar, Uttarakhand six months ago.
Haridwar, Nov 4: The ancient city of Haridwar in Uttarakhand, where the mighty Ganga river flows through its heart, is a holy place where millions of pilgrimages visit to take the blessings of almighty.
It seems gods, who rule over Haridwar, are yet to bless a minor girl who is differently-abled. The girl was allegedly abandoned by her parents at the railway station of the city almost six months ago.

The girl, currently being admitted in a hospital under the supervision of the police, is still waiting to meet her parents.
The police officials are trying their best to locate the parents of the abandoned child since last six months, but to little success.
A police official told news agency, ANI, that search for parents of differently-abled girl allegedly abandoned by them at Haridwar railway station six months ago is still on.
"We'll try our best to find her parents and send her to them as soon as possible. If it doesn't happen we'll send her to child care centre," added the police official.
Disabled rights activists say that every year hundreds of disabled children are abandoned by their parents as they find it hard to take care of them.
"This is a sad reality. Nobody wants a disabled child. Generally it is difficult to trace the parents/guardians of disabled children after being abandoned," said a disabled rights activist.
As per Census 2011, in India, out of the 121 crore population, about 2.68 crore persons are "disabled" which is 2.21 per cent of the total population.
Along with lack of financial stability and rampant illiteracy, the disabled community of the country is also fighting social bias and apathy, lack of care and protection and lack of facilities, to name a few problems.
