Two Terrorists Neutralised By Security Forces In J&K's Kathua Encounter

In the past couple of days, Jammu and Kashmir has witnessed a series of terror-related incidents, leading to significant casualties and ongoing security operations.

Late last night, two terrorists opened fire in the village of Kathua, resulting in a deadly encounter with security forces. Both terrorists were killed in the exchange, while a paramilitary soldier from the CRPF also lost his life.

The terrorists had approached local houses asking for water, arousing suspicion among the villagers. When some villagers raised an alarm, the terrorists began shooting, injuring one civilian. Contrary to some reports, no villagers were killed in the Kathua attack, according to Anand Jain, Additional Director General of Police, Jammu zone.

"There are rumours that many people are injured and three are dead. But only one civilian was injured, other than this all information regarding hostages being held and death, are rumours," Jain said.

"It is our hostile neighbour who always tries to damage the peaceful environment in our country. This (Hiranagar Terror attack) appears to be a fresh infiltration," he added.

Simultaneously, another encounter began in Doda, where terrorists attacked an Army post in the Chattargala area, injuring five soldiers and a special police officer. The encounter between the security forces and the terrorists continued into the morning in the higher reaches of the area.

These incidents come just two days after the tragic attack in Reasi, where a bus carrying pilgrims to the Shiv Khori cave temple came under fire. The bus driver's refusal to deboard the passengers led to the terrorists opening fire, causing the vehicle to crash into a gorge. This attack, orchestrated by Lashkar-e-Taiba commander Abu Hamza, resulted in nine casualties and left 33 injured.
