Two Men Arrested for Allegedly Raping Assamese Woman Misled by Fake Marriage Proposal in Agra

Police have detained two men accused of sexually assaulting a 20-year-old woman from Assam in Agra. The incident began when the woman was at New Delhi Railway Station, waiting for a train to Kerala to visit her brother. There, she encountered a 25-year-old man from Pune who allegedly deceived her with a false marriage proposal.

The man, identified as Manoj, persuaded the woman to travel with him to Agra by train. Upon arrival, he took her to his friend Kanha's house in Kiraoli, Agra district. Both men are accused of raping the woman at this location. The woman managed to escape and reported the incident at Kiraoli Police Station.

Police Investigation and Arrests

Keval Singh, the officer in charge at Kiraoli Police Station, confirmed that the woman reached out to them on November 5. She recounted how Manoj had approached her at the railway station and lured her to Agra under false pretenses. Once there, she was taken to Kanha's residence where the assaults occurred.

Singh stated, "On the second night, Kanha raped the woman without her consent." Following her complaint, authorities conducted a medical examination and filed charges under sections 64(1) and 115(2) of Bhartiya Nyay Sanhita (BNS). Both Manoj and Kanha were subsequently arrested.

The case highlights the importance of vigilance and safety for individuals traveling alone. It also underscores the need for prompt action by law enforcement in addressing such serious allegations. The investigation continues as authorities gather more evidence related to the case.
