Yamunanagar Firing Incident Leaves Two Dead and One Injured; Police Arrest Two Suspects

In a shocking incident, two men were killed and another was injured when masked gunmen opened fire in broad daylight on Thursday. The attack occurred as the victims exited a gym in Lakha Singh Kheri village. Police reported that the assailants, numbering four to five, arrived on motorcycles and fired multiple rounds at the men.

The attackers concealed their identities with shawls and head coverings. Approximately 40 empty cartridges were found at the scene. The police have launched an investigation and are reviewing CCTV footage that captured the incident. The motive behind the attack remains unclear.

Police Investigation and Arrests

Yamunanagar's Superintendent of Police, Rajiv Deswal, convened a meeting with senior officers following the attack. Four police teams were formed to apprehend the suspects. Late on Thursday night, police announced the arrest of two individuals, Arbaaz from Tajewala village and Sachin Handa from Chhachhrauli.

Deswal stated, "The accused have been arrested and interrogated very intensively." He added that they would seek remand after presenting them in court on Friday. Meanwhile, Radaur SHO Sandeep Kumar confirmed ongoing investigations.

Victims and Crime Scene Details

The deceased were identified as Pankaj Malik, 38, from Saharanpur, and Varinder, 32, from Yamunanagar district. Their friend Arjun, who was critically injured, is hospitalised. CCTV footage shows Arjun attempting to flee but being pursued and shot by the attackers.

Police sources indicated that the murders might be linked to a rivalry or old enmity. However, they clarified that the motive was not immediately evident. A forensic team collected evidence from the crime scene to aid in the investigation.

Legal Proceedings and Evidence Collection

A First Information Report (FIR) has been filed for murder among other charges related to this incident. Police are meticulously examining CCTV footage from the area to gather more clues about the perpetrators.
