Two held in connection with braid cutting incidents

Several incidents of women's braids being chopped-off were reported from several parts of North India.

Sambhal (UP), Aug 5: Two persons were arrested in Sambhal, Uttar Pradesh, for allegedly spreading rumours about braid chopping, police said on Saturday.

Bhikan and Nand Kishore were arrested late last night from Jeroi Hayatnagar village for spreading rumours about the braid of a 10-year-old girl being chopped off, police officials said.

A case has also been registered against the duo, in- charge of Bahjoi police station Braj Mohan Giri said.

Superintendent of Police, Sambhal, Ravi Shankar Chhabi said strict action will be initiated against those indulging in spreading rumours.

Several incidents of women's braids being chopped-off were reported from several parts of North India. The incidents have left even the police baffled.

On Friday, two women in Shivpuri, Madhya Pradesh reported that when they woke up in the morning they found that their hair had been cut by someone.

Earlier, a woman in Damoh had reported the same occurrence
