Two Held for Assault on Sikh Man in Haryana Amidst Calls for Justice
In a significant development, Haryana Police apprehended two individuals on Friday for their alleged involvement in the assault of a Sikh man in Kaithal. The incident, which occurred on Monday evening, has sparked widespread condemnation and prompted a swift response from law enforcement authorities. The victim reported that during the altercation, he was subjected to physical violence and derogatory remarks, labeling him a Khalistani.

The Superintendent of Police, Kaithal, Upasana, disclosed the identities of the accused as Ishu from Singwal village in Jind and Sunil from Shergarh village. Both men, approximately 30 years old, were captured in Pega village of Jind district. The arrest followed an intensive investigation by a five-member Special Investigation Team (SIT) established by the Kaithal police to delve into the matter.
Upon initial questioning, it was revealed that Ishu is engaged in the finance sector and has previously faced charges under the Arms Act. Meanwhile, Sunil earns his livelihood as a taxi driver. The successful apprehension of these suspects was the result of diligent efforts and various leads pursued by the SIT. In an attempt to expedite the capture of the assailants, police had earlier announced a reward of Rs 10,000 for any information leading to their arrest.
The incident has drawn sharp criticism from several quarters, including the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC), Congress, and Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD), all of whom have demanded prompt action against those responsible. According to the police complaint filed by the victim, he was waiting at a railway-level crossing in Kaithal when he got into an altercation with two individuals on a motorcycle. As the situation escalated, one of the assailants allegedly dismounted and attacked him with bricks.
The victim's account sheds light on the severity of the confrontation, which resulted in his hospitalization. He recounted how the altercation quickly turned violent, with one of the attackers resorting to physical assault while hurling abuses and accusations at him. This incident has raised concerns about communal harmony and safety in the region, prompting authorities to take decisive steps to address such acts of violence and intolerance.
The swift action by Haryana Police in arresting the suspects underscores their commitment to maintaining law and order and ensuring justice for victims of such crimes. As investigations continue, further details are expected to emerge regarding the motives behind this attack and any additional charges that may be filed against the accused.
