Two Army personnel lost their lives, and another soldier sustained injuries in an IED blast in the Laleali area along the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu & Kashmir's Akhnoor sector on Tuesday, according to Indian Army officials.

The Indian Army's White Knight Corps confirmed the incident in a post on X, stating, "A suspected Improvised Explosive Device (IED) blast occurred in Laleali, Akhnoor sector, during a fence patrol, resulting in two fatalities."
The statement further added, "Our troops are actively dominating the area, and search operations are underway. The White Knight Corps salutes and pays tribute to the supreme sacrifice of the two brave soldiers."
Officials reported that the explosion took place near a forward post in the Bhattal area around 3:50 pm while troops were conducting a routine patrol.
The injured soldiers were promptly transported to a hospital, where two of them, including a captain, later died from their injuries. The third soldier is said to be in stable condition.
In a separate incident earlier that day, a mortar shell was discovered in the Partap Canal near Namandar village at approximately 10 am. Local residents discovered the shell and promptly notified authorities. A police team responded and summoned a bomb disposal squad, which successfully defused the explosive safely.
