Twitter's New DM Limits for These Users: What You Need to Do

Elon Musk's Twitter platform is taking measures to reduce spam in Direct Messages (DMs) by imposing limits on unverified accounts. In an announcement on Saturday, Twitter revealed that unverified accounts will soon have daily restrictions on the number of DMs they can send. This move aims to combat the issue of spam and unwanted messages in users' DMs.

However, for those using the paid Twitter service, Twitter Blue, there will be no daily limitations on DMs. This is part of the company's strategy to encourage more people to sign up for Twitter Blue, which offers additional features and benefits.

Twitters New DM Limits for These Users: What You Need to Do

While Twitter has not yet provided specific details about the limits that will be imposed, this decision comes just a week after the platform introduced a feature that restricted unverified accounts from sending messages to users who don't follow them. This initial measure resulted in a 70% reduction in spam in Direct Messages compared to the previous week.'

Elon Musk, who acquired Twitter for $44 billion in October 2022, has also previously implemented restrictions on the number of tweets users can view each day. This action was taken in response to concerns about data scraping and system manipulation. Unverified accounts can now read up to 800 posts, while verified accounts can scroll through up to 10,000 tweets.

Earlier, the platform had attempted to prevent users from viewing tweets or comments on the web without being logged into an account. However, this measure was later scrapped.

The introduction of Twitter Blue is part of Musk's efforts to expand profits beyond advertising revenue. In India, individuals can subscribe to the web service for a monthly fee of Rs 650, while the cost on mobile devices is Rs 900. Additionally, brands have the option to sign up for the 'Verified for Organisations' program, with subscriptions starting at USD 1,000 per month.

Despite these changes, Twitter has faced ongoing controversies since Musk's acquisition of the social media giant. The platform continues to evolve as it addresses various challenges and strives to enhance user experience and security.
