Twitter blocks Kashmir propaganda handles on India's request
With India battling to restore peace in Kashmir, it is taking all measures to ensure that there is nothing provocative on the web.
Acting on an official communication from the Indian Government, Twitter has blocked several accounts related to Kashmir. On August 24, the Indian Government had asked Twitter to block several accounts most of them relating to Kashmir.
In all the government sought the blocking of 19 accounts. In most of these accounts it was found that there were tweets about Kashmir. The communication was sent to Twitter invoking Section 69A of the Information Technology Act 2000.
The communication was sent out following a request by the law enforcement agencies. It was said that the accounts should be removed in the interest of public order. With India battling to restore peace in Kashmir, it is taking all measures to ensure that there is nothing provocative on the web. This is one of the many actions that the Indian government has taken in recent times while dealing with the Kashmir issue. It was found that there is a lot of propaganda material that goes up on the social media and also WhatsApp groups.
