Twisha Sharma Death Case: Husband Samarth Singh, Mother-In-Law Giribala Sent To CBI Custody Till June 2

The investigation into the death of 33-year-old Twisha Sharma has taken a significant turn after a local court in Bhopal granted the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) custody of her husband and mother-in-law.

On Friday, the court sent Twisha's husband, Samarth Singh, and mother-in-law, Giribala Singh, to CBI remand until June 2. The decision comes amid allegations of dowry harassment, tampering with evidence, and claims that Twisha was subjected to continuous distress inside her matrimonial home.

The case has attracted widespread attention in Madhya Pradesh, with both families presenting sharply different versions of events.

Court Sends Accused To CBI Custody

The order was passed by a local court in Bhopal after the CBI sought custody of the two accused for further investigation.

Speaking to reporters, advocate Anurag Srivastava, who represents Twisha's family, said:
"The court has sent Giribala Singh and Samarth Singh to CBI remand till 2 pm on June 2. They will remain in CBI custody until then. The CBI may ask the court to extend the remand if needed."

He expressed hope that the investigation would now move forward in the right direction and help uncover the facts surrounding Twisha's death.

Giribala Singh Arrested After High Court Cancels Bail

The latest development follows the arrest of Giribala Singh, who was taken into custody by the CBI after nearly six hours of questioning.

Earlier this month, a sessions court had granted her anticipatory bail. However, the bail was later cancelled by the Madhya Pradesh High Court.

While revoking the protection, the High Court reportedly considered the factual details of the case and the serious allegations levelled against her.

The cancellation of bail cleared the way for her arrest and further questioning by investigators.

Husband Samarth Singh Surrenders

Twisha's husband, Samarth Singh, had remained untraceable since May 12, the day Twisha died.

According to officials, he later surrendered before a court in Jabalpur, following which he was arrested.

Investigators are now expected to question both Samarth and Giribala together as they attempt to reconstruct the events leading up to Twisha's death.

Family Alleges Dowry Harassment

Twisha Sharma's family has repeatedly accused her husband and in-laws of harassing her over dowry demands.
