TTD earns Rs, 1,038 crore offerings in 2016-17

Tirupati: The Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam chief executive officer D Sambasiva Rao on Friday said that the temple has earned Rs 1,038 crores as a cash offerings from devotees during 2016-17.

On Friday morning, he attended the programme called 'Dial Your EO' where he spoke to many devotees and gathered the information on grievances faced by them in the shrine.
He directed the officials to look for solutions in grievance addressed by the devotees.
Later speaking to the media, he said that more than 2.68 crore devotees visited the Lord Venkateswara Swamy shrine this year and added that a total of 10.50 crore laddoos were sold and given to the devotees in the same tenure. He said that the temple is still the holder of Rs 15.5 crore scrapped notes.
Earlier in February, the TTD approved Rs 2, 858 crore annual budget for 2017-18
The offerings by the devotees was estimated at Rs 1,110 crore while Rs 807.7 crore was expected to be fetched from interest on investments in several banks.
As devotees tonsure their head, the shrine management expects Rs 100 crore from the sale of hair offered.
The special darshan which costs Rs 300 per person, is expected to fetch Rs 256 crore during the financial year 2017-18. The laddoos sale is expected to reach Rs 165 crore.
