Pramod Krishnam Defends Religious Respect Amid Kharge's Comments on Yogi Adityanath

Acharya Pramod Krishnam, previously associated with Congress and Kalki Peethadhishwar, criticised Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge. The criticism came after Kharge's comments about Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. Kharge had criticised Adityanath during a rally in Nagpur for his divisive slogan, "batenge toh katenge," suggesting it promotes division.

Krishnam Defends Religious Figures Against Kharge

Kharge further commented at a Jharkhand rally, stating that a true Yogi would not use such language. He compared the language to that used by terrorists. Kharge remarked that Yogi, despite being a religious leader and wearing saffron robes, acts like "a wolf in lamb's clothing."

Political Reactions and Criticisms

Krishnam responded to Kharge's statements by questioning his commitment to Hindu values. He said, "The name Mallikarjun Kharge suggests he is Hindu, but his actions do not reflect that." Krishnam expressed concern over Kharge's perceived hostility towards Sanatan Dharma.

Krishnam argued that those who oppose Sanatan Dharma and its saints should not have a role in Indian politics. He emphasised that senior leaders like Kharge should avoid insulting Hindu saints or Sanatan Dharma. "True Hindus do not disrespect their own religious figures," he asserted.

Kharge had urged for unity in the country and advised against making divisive statements. He stated that those who genuinely desire national unity should refrain from using such rhetoric. Krishnam's remarks highlight the ongoing tensions within political discourse regarding religious sentiments and political leadership.

The exchange between Krishnam and Kharge underscores the sensitive nature of religious and political discussions in India. It reflects broader debates about the role of religion in politics and the responsibilities of political leaders to maintain respectful dialogue.
