Truck Driver Wins Rs 10 Crore In Punjab State Dear Lohri Makar Sankranti Bumper Lottery 2025
Harpinder Singh, a truck driver from Barwa village in Nurpur Bedi, Rupnagar district, has become the fortunate winner of the Punjab State Dear Lohri Makar Sankranti Bumper-2025, securing a staggering Rs 10 crore, the highest prize ever offered by a Punjab lottery. Singh, who currently works in Kuwait, purchased his lucky ticket during a holiday visit home, investing just Rs 500. His win is not just a stroke of luck but also the culmination of 15 years of persistently buying lottery tickets.
For Harpinder, the victory is a testament to divine grace. "I cannot believe my luck. It is by sheer grace of God that I have won such a big amount. I feel one should buy a ticket at least once in their lifetime," he shared, overwhelmed by his newfound fortune. The decision to buy the ticket turned out to be life-changing, especially since he had faced significant financial hurdles before, including taking out a loan for his travel expenses to Kuwait for employment opportunities.

This windfall comes at a crucial time for Harpinder's family, grappling with hardships, including a tragic accident that led to the amputation of his son Devinder's left arm. Harpinder envisions utilizing the prize money to establish a business for Devinder, aiming to secure a stable future and afford quality medical treatment that could enhance his son's life significantly. In a reflective moment, Harpinder expressed the universal need for financial security, saying, "Paise di zaroorat kis nu nahi hundi (who doesn't need money)."
The lottery's impact extends beyond the Singh family. Hemant Kakkar, the vendor who sold the winning ticket, and the sub-stockist are set to receive Rs 25 lakh and Rs 5 lakh, respectively, significantly boosting their earnings. This not only benefits them financially but also establishes Kakkar as a trusted seller in the community. Amidst the celebration at his shop, Kakkar noted the increasing allure of lotteries as the prize money grows each year, emphasizing the courage it takes to invest in a Rs 500 ticket with hopes of a major return.
However, it's essential to note that the prize amount is subject to a 30% tax deduction at source (TDS), along with applicable income tax, as outlined by officials from the Punjab State Lotteries Department. Despite this deduction, the win remains a life-altering event for Harpinder and his family, offering them a chance to overcome past adversities and build a hopeful future.
In conclusion, Harpinder Singh's remarkable win in the Punjab State Dear Lohri Makar Sankranti Bumper-2025 highlights not only the transformative power of luck but also the enduring spirit of hope and perseverance. It underscores the significant financial relief and opportunities that come with such a win, changing lives and fulfilling dreams against all odds.
