Hyderabad, May 24: TRS President K Chandrasekhar Rao, who is set to be the first chief minister of Telangana next month, is likely to attend the swearing-in ceremony of Prime Minister-elect Narendra Modi.

The TRS chief is among a host of leaders who have been invited for the swearing-in function to be held at the forecourt lawns of the Rashtrapati Bhavan on May 26. Rao would leave for Delhi on Sunday, party sources said here.

Rao himself will take oath as the first chief minister of Telangana

Rao, whose party won the just-held Assembly polls in Telangana, would take oath as chief minister here on June 2 when the new state would come into existence.

Sonia likely to attend Modi's swearing-in ceremony

Congress president Sonia Gandhi is also likely to attend Modi's swearing-in ceremony programme at the Rashtrapati Bhavan on May 26.

"I think so," a senior party leader said Saturday, when asked whether Sonia Gandhi would attend the function.

Around 3,000 guests, including foreign dignitaries, are expected to attend the event.
