Tripura: Govt launches pension scheme for transgenders
New Delhi, July 29: With the aim to provide economic security to transgenders, Manik Sarkar-led left Government of Tripura has introduced a pension scheme for them.
It has been decided that ‘socially ignored' group will be given monthly pension of rupee upto 500.

According to the Hindu report, the decision was taken in a council of Ministers meeting, held on Tuesday.
The scheme will also benefit to domestic women workers and patients suffering from diseases like HIV and leprosy.
On asking about the move, Chief Minister Manik Sarkar assertively told reporters his government is committed for upliftment of deprived, underprivileged people of the society.
Throwing more light on the present schemes, he further said that we have already 20 pension schemes, providing benefits to around one lakh people in the State.
