Tripura elections 2018: 11 party activist murdered in last 13 months, claims BJP

    A week prior to the elections, a missing BJP booth president was found hanging on tree at Barjala in Tripura on Sunday. Booth president of Ramnagar Sri Madhusudan Deb went missing for two days. BJP leaders alleged that CPM goons are behind this murder.

    Tripura elections 2018: BJP booth president found dead

    BJP chief Amit Shah, who is in Tripura, said, "One of our booth workers was abducted, for two days he was untraceable after our workers pressurised the DGP we got to know that he was killed and hanged from a tree, by CPIM cadre. Authorities here work under CPIM's pressure."

    BJP National Executive Committee Member and in charge of Tripura State, Sunil Deodhar said, "Seven days prior to elections, one more exasperated crime to spread terror. The dead body of Madhu Deb, booth president in Ramnagar constituency found hanging on a tree at Barjala. He had gone missing two days back. This is 11th BJP Tripura activist murdered in last 13 months."

    Assam minister Himant Biswa Sarma said, "Much to our shock and horror we discover today that our missing booth president of Ramnagar Sri Madhusudan Deb is brutally murdered by CPI (M) goons. The white attire of Manik Sarkar ji is getting deeply stained by the blood of innocent and people shall avenge this soon. Shame!"

    The election for the 60-member Assembly was scheduled to be held on February 18 while the counting will take place on March 3. Some 297 candidates, including 20 women, are in the fray.
