Tribal Woman Assaulted in Odisha: Human Faeces Forced into Mouth During Attack
A 20-year-old tribal woman in Odisha's Bolangir district was reportedly attacked, and human faeces were forced into her mouth, according to police reports. The incident took place on November 16 in Jurabandha village within the Bangamunda police station area. The accused, a non-tribal man, was allegedly operating a tractor on the woman's farmland, damaging her crops. When she objected, he assaulted her and committed the heinous act.

Police Response and Investigation
The woman's aunt attempted to intervene but was also attacked by the accused, as stated in the FIR. Bolangir's Superintendent of Police, Khilari Rishikesh Dnyandeo, mentioned that the accused has been evading arrest since the incident. "We have formed two special teams to nab him. Even police teams have been sent to neighbouring states in search of him," he said. He expressed confidence that they would apprehend the suspect soon.
Political Reaction and Community Outrage
BJD MP Niranjan Bisi addressed a press conference in Bhubaneswar, criticising the police for their inaction against the accused. He highlighted that this lack of response has angered the tribal community. Bisi warned that if law and order deteriorate in Bangamunda, the state government would bear responsibility for any consequences.
Legal Action and Charges
A police officer confirmed that a case has been registered under the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes Prevention of Atrocities Act. This legal action underscores the seriousness of the crime and aims to ensure justice for the victims involved in this distressing incident.
Efforts continue to locate and arrest the accused, with authorities extending their search to neighbouring states. The community remains vigilant, seeking justice for the victims while urging prompt action from law enforcement agencies to restore peace and order in the region.
