Tremors Rock Delhi-NCR As 5.7 Magnitude Quake Hits Afghanistan
An earthquake with a magnitude of 5.7 struck Afghanistan on Friday, as reported by the National Center for Seismology. Tremors were felt in Delhi-NCR, but there have been no reports of casualties or damage so far.
The earthquake's epicenter was located at a latitude of 36.51° North and a longitude of 71.12° East, with a depth of 255 kilometers. The National Center for Seismology shared details on social media platform X, stating, "EQ of M: 5.7, On: 29/08/2024 11:26:38 IST, Lat: 36.51 N, Long: 71.12 E, Depth: 255 Km, Location: Afghanistan."

Earlier, on August 16, another earthquake with a magnitude of 4.8 was recorded in Afghanistan. The tremors from that quake were also felt in parts of Delhi-NCR. This earlier quake occurred at 6:35 pm IST, with its epicenter located at 37.09° North and 71.17° East, at a depth of 130 kilometers. The National Center for Seismology posted, "EQ of M: 4.8, On: 16/08/2024 06:35:16 IST, Lat: 37.09 N, Long: 71.17 E, Depth: 130 Km, Location: Afghanistan."
