Transformation in governance needed to meet aspirations of youth: Narendra Modi
New Delhi, Aug 26 Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday said transformation in governance is needed for India to progress in an inter-connected world and meet the aspirations of its youth.

"Development now depends on the quality of institutions and ideas... Thirty years ago, a country might have been able to look inward and find its solutions. Today, countries are inter-dependent and inter-connected," the Prime Minister said at a function of the Niti Aayog.
Modi said a "metamorphosis" is needed and added: "The transformation of India cannot happen without a transformation of governance. We cannot march through the 21st century with the administrative systems of the 19th century."
"No country can afford any longer to develop in isolation. Younger generation in India is thinking and aspiring so differently, that government can no longer afford to remain rooted in the past," he said.
He said he has been holding brainstorming sessions with government officials, and the next step will be getting ideas from outside, adding that India has always been open to ideas from outside.
