Train Skips Station, Reverses Almost 1 Km to Pick Waiting Passengers

A Shoranur-bound train initially missed a scheduled stop at Cheriyanad due to the lack of a signal at the station, but reversed about 1 km later to pick up waiting passengers.

The incident took place at 7:45 am on Monday at the Cheriyanad station, a minor halt between Mavelikkara and Chengannur stations.

According to railway officials, no passengers reported any issues or inconvenience, and the train arrived at its destination punctually.

The railway official attributed the mishap to an error by the loco pilots who noticed it after the train had already moved past the station. The train eventually made up for the delay, and no passengers faced any inconvenience.

"There is no signal at Cheriyanad as it is only a halt station. There might have been an error by the loco pilots. They noticed it when the train had crossed some metres," TOI quoted the rail official as saying.

The loco pilots will be questioned as per the norms to provide an explanation for the incident.
