Congress Corporator's Daughter Fatally Stabbed Inside Hubballi College Campus
In a tragic incident at BVB College, the daughter of a Congress Corporator was fatally stabbed by an acquaintance, sparking widespread shock and condemnation. The victim, identified as 23-year-old Neha, the daughter of Niranjan Hiremath, was attacked on the college campus on Thursday. Neha, a first-year MCA student, succumbed to her injuries after being stabbed multiple times. The assailant, 23-year-old Fayaz, a former MCA student and Neha's batchmate during their BCA course, has been apprehended by the police.

The horrifying event was captured on the college's CCTV system. According to police reports, Fayaz entered the college premises armed with a knife and assaulted Neha five to six times. In the course of the attack, Fayaz also sustained injuries and was subsequently hospitalized alongside Neha, who was pronounced dead upon arrival. During questioning, Fayaz alleged that he and Neha had been in a relationship which she had recently ended, leading to him attacking her. This claim is currently under investigation.
A murder case has been registered against Fayaz as law enforcement continues its inquiry into the circumstances leading up to the fatal stabbing. Neha's father recounted the events leading to his daughter's death, stating that she had been attending classes and was attacked around 4:30 pm as she was leaving. He revealed that Fayaz had previously expressed romantic interest in Neha, which she had rejected due to differences in caste and personal disinterest.
The grief-stricken father has called for the severest punishment for his daughter's killer, advocating for capital punishment to bring peace to his daughter's soul. In response to this tragic event, Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah expressed his condolences to Neha's family and assured that strict action would be taken against the perpetrator. He emphasized the importance of not resorting to vigilante justice and assured that the police are committed to securing justice for Neha.
Chief Minister Siddaramaiah's statement on X underscored the government's stance on maintaining societal peace while pursuing justice for the victim. This incident has reignited discussions on campus safety and the measures necessary to protect students from such violent acts. The community and authorities alike are now faced with the task of addressing these concerns while ensuring that justice is served for Neha Hiremath.
