Couple and Motorcyclist Killed in Collision with Bus in Janjgir-Champa

In a tragic incident on Wednesday in Janjgir-Champa district, Chhattisgarh, three individuals lost their lives in a road accident involving two motorcycles and a private bus. The collision occurred around 12 pm near Mehandi village within the jurisdiction of Sheorinarayan police station. Among the deceased were Mannu Nayak, his wife Uma Devi, and another motorbike rider named Suraj Yadav from Rahaud village.

The accident unfolded when Suraj Yadav, traveling from the opposite direction, collided head-on with the Nayak's motorcycle. Following this collision, a private bus rammed into the two motorcycles, leading to immediate fatalities on the scene. Mannu Nayak, Uma Devi, and Suraj Yadav were pronounced dead at the location of the accident.

The couple's two daughters, who were also involved in the accident, sustained injuries. They were promptly taken to a community health centre in Pamgarh for initial treatment. Considering the severity of their injuries, they were later transferred to a city hospital in Bilaspur for advanced medical care.

Following the incident, the bus driver involved in the crash fled the scene. Efforts to locate and apprehend the driver are presumably underway. In response to this tragic event, local residents expressed their grief and frustration by staging a road blockade that lasted for approximately three to four hours. They demanded compensation for the victims' families during this demonstration.

The police and district administration officials arrived at the scene to negotiate with the protestors. Their efforts eventually led to the dispersal of the crowd as they managed to pacify the aggrieved community members. The situation underscores the ongoing challenges related to road safety and the urgent need for measures to prevent such devastating incidents in the future.
