Young Girl's Tragic End in Kolhapur Sugarcane Field; Uncle Faces Charges
The body of a 10-year-old girl was discovered in a sugarcane field in Maharashtra's Kolhapur district on Thursday morning. Following this, her uncle was arrested for alleged rape and murder, according to a police official. The girl's family, originally from Bihar, reported her missing on Wednesday evening.

Police Investigation and Arrest
Local residents found the minor's body just 800 metres from her home in Shiye village under Karvir taluka. The police confirmed that her uncle sexually assaulted and strangled her. "The accused has confessed during interrogation," the official stated.
Superintendent of Police Mahendra Pandit mentioned that the accused would be presented in court on Friday. The investigation revealed that the uncle lied to the girl's mother about her whereabouts on Wednesday evening, claiming she had left the house in anger after being scolded.
Family Background and Community Reaction
The girl's parents work at an industrial unit in the Shiroli MIDC area. Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, who oversees the home portfolio, commented on the case. "The girl's family is from Bihar. As per primary information, her uncle beat her up on Wednesday afternoon and she left home," Fadnavis said.
Fadnavis added that a local police station received a missing person complaint around 10 pm on Wednesday. "Her body was found this morning, and the police suspect sexual assault," he noted. Several suspects have been detained for questioning.
Recent Similar Incidents
This tragic event follows another recent incident where two minor girls were sexually abused by an attendant at a school in Badlapur town of Thane district. These cases have raised concerns about child safety in the region.
The Deputy Chief Minister assured that strict action would be taken against those responsible. "We will go to the bottom of this case, and the perpetrators will face strict action. We will provide all possible help to the family," Fadnavis stated.
The accused had left home before the deceased girl's father arrived on Wednesday night and returned only on Thursday morning. The police are continuing their investigation to gather more evidence and ensure justice for the victim.
This incident has shocked the local community and highlighted the need for increased vigilance and protection for children. Authorities are urging residents to report any suspicious activities to prevent such tragedies in the future.
The case has drawn significant attention from both local authorities and the public, emphasizing the importance of swift justice and support for the victim's family during this difficult time.
