Tragic Bus Fire in Rajasthan Results in Multiple Fatalities and Injuries

A devastating bus fire in Rajasthan has led to the loss of lives and numerous injuries. President Droupadi Murmu and Vice-President C P Radhakrishnan have expressed their condolences and prayers for the victims.

President Droupadi Murmu expressed deep sorrow over a bus fire in Rajasthan that resulted in numerous fatalities. She conveyed her condolences to the grieving families and wished for the swift recovery of those injured. Vice-President C P Radhakrishnan also shared his condolences, expressing his sadness over the tragic incident.

The unfortunate event occurred when a private bus travelling from Jaisalmer to Jodhpur caught fire, leading to the deaths of 20 passengers and critically injuring 16 others. The incident took place on Tuesday, as reported by the police. Prime Minister Narendra Modi also expressed his grief and announced an ex gratia payment of Rs 2 lakh for the families of the deceased.

Tragic Incident on Jaisalmer-Jodhpur Highway

According to police reports, the bus departed from Jaisalmer at approximately 3 pm with 57 passengers on board. As it travelled along the Jaisalmer-Jodhpur highway, smoke began to emerge from the rear of the vehicle. The driver promptly stopped the bus by the roadside, but flames quickly engulfed it.

Local residents and passers-by immediately rushed to assist in rescue efforts. Army personnel also joined in to help manage the situation. Fire tenders and police were alerted, and the injured passengers were transported to Jawahar Hospital in Jaisalmer for medical treatment.

Condolences and Support from Leaders

President Murmu shared her thoughts on X, stating in Hindi, "The news of the deaths of several people due to a fire in a bus in Jaisalmer, Rajasthan, is extremely heartbreaking. I express my deepest condolences to the bereaved families and pray for the speedy recovery of the injured." Vice-President Radhakrishnan echoed these sentiments through an X post from his secretariat.

The Vice-President Secretariat quoted Radhakrishnan saying, "Deeply anguished by the loss of lives in the tragic bus fire incident in Jaisalmer, Rajasthan. My heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families. Prayers for the speedy recovery of the injured."

This tragic event has left a profound impact on many, highlighting the importance of safety measures in public transport. The swift response from locals and authorities helped prevent further casualties, but the loss remains significant for those affected.
