Traffic Jams In Prayagraj Mahakumbh: CM Yogi Adityanath Is Upset With Officials
During a review meeting, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath expressed his dissatisfaction with officials over the traffic congestion in Prayagraj during Mahakumbh. He particularly directed his frustration towards two ADG rank officials. Addressing Prayagraj ADG Bhanu Bhaskar, he questioned how such a significant responsibility could be neglected.
The Chief Minister emphasised that everyone must fulfil their duties and not shift blame. He asked the ADG about the team's actions during the traffic chaos, warning of potential suspension. He highlighted the need for arrangements on weekends, given the expected crowds.

Massive Turnout at Mahakumbh
Despite the traffic issues, Uttar Pradesh has achieved its target of 450 million devotees visiting Prayagraj for the religious event. By Tuesday morning, 50 lakh devotees had taken a holy dip in Triveni Sangam, pushing the total number of bathers at Maha Kumbh past 450 million.
With two major bathing festivals remaining, expectations are that this figure will exceed 500 million. The enthusiasm among devotees remains high even after all three Amrit Snan events-Makar Sankranti, Mauni Amavasya, and Basant Panchami-in Prayagraj.
Devotees Flock to Prayagraj
Every day, lakhs and crores of devotees from across India and abroad arrive in Prayagraj to take a dip in the sacred Triveni with reverence and faith. On Mauni Amavasya alone, 80 million devotees bathed, while 35 million took an Amrit bath on Makar Sankranti.
On February 1 and January 30, 17 million pilgrims took a virtuous dip. During Paush Purnima, 25.7 million devotees bathed in Triveni on Basant Panchami. Even before Magh Purnima, over 10 million devotees have reached Sangam coast for a holy bath.
