Top Army Officers Assess Security in Jammu and Kashmir After Terror Attacks

Top Army officers reviewed the security situation in Jammu and Kashmir on Tuesday following recent terrorist attacks. Lieutenant General Navin Sachdeva, the General Officer Commanding (GOC) 16 Corps, visited forward areas in Rajouri district. This visit occurred a day after five Army personnel, including a Junior Commissioned Officer, were killed and several others injured in an ambush by heavily armed terrorists in Kathua district's remote Machedi area.

Security Review in Jammu & Kashmir

In recent months, the Jammu region has seen a rise in terrorist activities, especially in the border districts of Poonch, Rajouri, Doda, and Reasi. This surge is believed to be linked to efforts by Pakistani handlers to reignite terrorism. Early Sunday, an Army camp in the Manjkote area of Rajouri district was targeted in a firing incident, resulting in injuries to a soldier.

Security Measures and Operational Preparedness

The GOC of White Knight Corps, accompanied by GOC Counter Insurgency Force Romeo Guluthi and Dera Ki Gali (DKG), conducted a review of the security situation. "During the visit, they were briefed on operational preparedness and ongoing measures to maintain a robust operational posture," stated the White Knight Corps in a post on X. Officials stressed the need for heightened alertness and vigilance round the clock due to the threat perception in the border region.

In a parallel development, Lieutenant General Rajiv Ghai, GOC of the Army's strategic Chinar Corps, reviewed the security situation in south Kashmir. "#ChinarCorps Commander visited Rashtriya Rifles Battalions deployed in Counter Terrorism Grid in South Kashmir to review the security situation," said the Army's Srinagar-based Chinar Corps in a post on X.

Recent Operations and Achievements

The Chinar Corps Commander praised the troops for their meticulous planning and execution of last week's OP Modargham and OP Chinigam in Kulgam district. "The Corps Commander complimented the troops for their meticulous planning and execution of last week's OP Modargham and OP Chinigam in Kulgam district, where six terrorists were eliminated and war-like stores were recovered," stated the Army. Two soldiers also lost their lives during these twin encounters.

The recent surge in terrorist activities has disrupted the once peaceful atmosphere of Jammu. The Army remains committed to maintaining security and preventing further terrorist activities. "Chinar Corps stands by its commitment to keep Kashmir terror-free," affirmed the Army.

These reviews and visits by top Army officials underscore the importance of maintaining high vigilance and operational readiness in Jammu and Kashmir. The ongoing measures aim to ensure that security forces are well-prepared to counter any threats effectively.
