Too many edits on AIADMK page, Wikipedia blocks further edits

Following the unrest in the AIADMK and the political crisis in Tamil Nadu, many users made multiple edits to the page, some of which abused Sasikala Natarajan and TTV Dinakaran.

The AIADMK is witnessing hectic activity not just in the party but on its Wikipedia page as well. So much so that the online encyclopaedia has now made the page semi-protected. Wikipedia has put out reasons for making the AIADMK page semi-protected out of which 'prevention of vandalism to popular pages' is a key reason.

While most pages in Wikipedia can be edited by anyone, semi-protected pages are open to editing only by established registered users. The online encyclopaedia decided to protect the page after multiple edits including abusive ones were added by users. Following the unrest in the AIADMK and the political crisis in Tamil Nadu, many users made multiple edits to the page, some of which abused Sasikala Natarajan and Dinakaran.

Constant edits to the page by multiple users, some supporters of Panneerselvam as well as Sasikala Natarajan forced the page to be protected. On Thursday evening the page was blocked from further editing by all users. The edit history of the AIADMK page prior to the blocking shows changes made to the details module on the right side of the page with the names of the party leader, party president and general secretary being changed constantly.

On Thursday, the page showed Panneerselvam as the leader of the party which was later changed to Edappadi Palanisamy and further changed to V K Sasikala by anonymous users. Madhusudhanan, Dinakaran, Jayalalithaa were also added on the page as presidents, general secretary of the party on the page at different intervals.
