The government had earlier decided to accept demonetised Rs 500 notes at toll plazas till December 12. However, toll collection is likely to create chaos over change for high value currency notes. The government indicated that swipe machines at tolls plazas will help ease burden of change.

With many banks and ATMs disbursing only Rs 2000 currency notes, there is acute shortage of change in lower denomination currencies. Toll plaza's are likely to be flooded by commuters expecting change resulting in a logjams.
