Toll Booth Workers Tie Army Jawan To Poll, Mercilessly Assault In Viral Video

An Indian Army soldier, Kapil Kavad of the Rajput Regiment, was assaulted by toll booth staff in Meerut, Uttar Pradesh. The incident occurred at the Bhuni toll booth while Kavad was on his way to the Delhi airport to return to his post in Srinagar.

The altercation began when Kavad, who was with his cousin, got into an argument with the toll booth staff over a long queue. A video of the incident shows at least five employees beating the soldier and pinning him to a pole while hurling abuses.

Following a complaint from Kavad's family, police registered a case. Four of the accused have been arrested after police reviewed CCTV and other video footage. The search is on for the other suspects.

Rakesh Kumar Mishra, Superintendent of Police (Rural), said, "Kapil is in the Indian Army. He was returning to his post. There was a long queue at the Bhuni toll booth. He was in a hurry and he spoke to the toll booth staff. An argument began and the toll booth staff assaulted him. Following a complaint from his family, a case was registered at Sarurpur police station."

"Four accused have been arrested after scanning CCTV footage and videos. Two more teams are working to arrest the other accused," the senior officer added.

According to some reports, the altercation began when Kapil told the toll booth staff that his village is in the area exempted from toll charges. This led to an argument that snowballed into the soldier's assault.
