Mother Says Taking Toddler to Everest Base Camp Tougher Than Climbing Everest
In a remarkable feat that has captured the attention of many, a two-and-a-half-year-old girl from Bhopal, Siddhi Mishra, has become one of the youngest individuals to reach the Everest Base Camp (EBC) in Nepal. Situated at a staggering height of 5,364 meters above sea level, the journey to EBC is a formidable challenge even for seasoned climbers. However, Siddhi, accompanied by her mountaineer mother Bhavna Dehariya and father Mahim Mishra, successfully completed this arduous trek on March 22.

Bhavna Dehariya, who herself conquered Mount Everest in 2019, shared that taking her daughter to the EBC was more challenging than scaling the world's highest peak. "As I am a professional mountaineer, I was able to do it...it is not possible for normal parents to do so," Dehariya stated. She emphasized the meticulous preparation that went into ensuring Siddhi's safety and well-being during the trek. This included acclimatizing Siddhi to high altitudes by visiting Leh and Ladakh prior to their EBC expedition.
The family embarked on their journey to the EBC on March 12 and reached their destination ten days later. When asked about her experience, Siddhi expressed her fondness for the ice and snow at the base camp. This adventure not only showcases the incredible determination of the Mishra family but also sets Siddhi apart from other children her age.
Bhavna Dehariya is no stranger to conquering towering peaks. Her climbing resume includes Australia's Mount Kosciuszko at 2,228 meters, Africa's Mount Kilimanjaro at 5,895 meters, and South America's Aconcagua at 6,962 meters. Her successful ascent of Mount Everest and now guiding her young daughter to the base camp of the same mountain adds another impressive chapter to her mountaineering career.
The news of Siddhi's achievement was confirmed by a statement released by a private trekking company. This milestone has not only put Siddhi in the limelight but also highlighted the extraordinary capabilities and resilience of young children when guided and supported by their parents.
This unique journey undertaken by Siddhi and her family serves as an inspiring testament to human endurance and the spirit of adventure. It also underscores the importance of preparation and acclimatization in undertaking such high-altitude treks. As Siddhi grows up, this remarkable experience will undoubtedly remain a significant part of her life story.
