To beat change crunch, RBI to introduce Rs 200 notes?
RBI is likely to introduce Rs 200 notes to avoid change crunch.
Mumbai, April 4: The Reserve Bank of India is likely to introduce Rs 200 notes soon. According to reports, it was said that RBI during a meeting last month, decided to bring in the Rs 200 note to avoid the change crunch. There has been a shortage of the lower denomination notes since the decision on demonetisation was announced.

The RBI is ready to print the Rs 200 notes if the Centre agrees to the proposal. The same would be tabled before the government soon. RBI official has refused to comment on the matter.
Digital transactions are still a matter of concern to the people after Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced demonetisation of Rs 500 and 1,000 notes on November 8, 2016.
Rs 10, 20, 50 and 100 notes were of the great value to people for households and for other provisions. These notes were less circulated by the RBI.
