TN floor test: Madras HC to hear plea tomorrow
The Madras high court will hear a plea seeking to declare the floor test held in the Tamil Nadu legislative assembly as null and void on Wednesday. The DMK had filed a plea seeking to declare the floor test as null and void and the required procedures had not been followed.
The DMK approached the high court after the governor refused to intervene and advised DMK leader M K Stalin to go to court if he had any qualms about the conduct of the trust vote. DMK, as well as former chief minister O Panneerselvam's camp, had deemed the process undemocratic and unfair. In its petition, the DMK has reiterated that the results of the floor test would have been different had there been a secret ballot and despite fervent pleas by the opposition, the speaker refused to allow a secret ballot.
