TN fishermen call off fishing boycott
Rameswaram (TN), Oct 14: Fishermen from the coastal hamlet here will resume fishing operations from tomorrow, after over a week-long stir to press for various demands, including the restoration of traditional fishing rights.
A resolution to this effect was adopted at a meeting of Fishermens associations here today, Tamil Nadu and Puducherry Mechanised Boats' Fishermen Association General Secretary, NJ Bose said.

"The decision was taken keeping in mind the festive season," he said.
Fishermen here had resolved to boycott fishing from October 6, to condemn the alleged attack on Tamil Nadu fishermen by the Sri Lankan Naval personnel and press for a slew of demands.
The Lankan navy had attacked the fishermen with stones besides ramming and sinking a mechanised boat and destroying fishing nets of several other vessels off Dhanushkodi, on October 6.
