TMC leaders slammed for not attending Martyr's Day event

party was slammed by the opposition as none of the party leaders attended a Gandhi memorial function at Barrackpur in the state on Thursday, the 66th death anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi.

The Congress and BJP slammed the Mamata Banerjee-led government, saying TMC doesn't care for protocol and were busy with the party rally in Kolkata.

TMC's massive rally at Brigade Ground in Kolkata has thrown normal life out of gear. Lakhs of people from various corners of the state have arrived for the rally, choking every road and street in the city. That the rally is held on a week day had added to the chaos. Traffic block has been reported from several parts of the city, leaving students and office-goers stranded on the road.

Police has been deployed at several parts of the city like Salt Lake Stadium, the dharmashalas in central Kolkata, and the Howrah Station New Complex.

The rally officially launches the Lok Sabha poll campaign of TMC. The same venue will host BJP's PM candidate Narendra Modi's rally on February 5 and the Left Front's on February 9.
