Subhranshu has lodged a missing complaint at Kolkata's Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose International Airport police station. "As of now, we know that he was scheduled to land at Delhi Airport at around 9 pm. But he is not traceable," a close aide told news agency PTI.

However, several media reports claimed that the TMC leader arrived in Delhi on a special work.

"I have en an MP for several years. Why can't I come to Delhi," Roy asked reports.

When asked was he unwell, the TMC leader said "no no, I have come for special work and denied speculations of any political move."

Mukul Roy, a veteran TMC leader, had joined BJP in 2017 following differences with the party leadership. He was made BJP national vice-president. Roy was instrumental in BJP's Bengal strategy for the 2019 parliamentary polls, which saw the saffron party winning 18 of the State's total of 42 Lok Sabha seats.

Roy won the 2021 Assembly polls on a BJP ticket but later returned to the TMC fold after the results were announced.
