TMC Demands Apology from BJP Leader for Derogatory Remarks Against Mamata Banerjee

The TMC has strongly condemned the lewd and offensive remarks made by West Bengal BJP president Sukanta Majumdar towards Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, demanding an unequivocal apology from him. The incident has highlighted the BJPs anti-women mindset and commitment to misogyny.

The Trinamool Congress (TMC) has demanded an unconditional apology from West Bengal BJP president Sukanta Majumdar for his alleged obscene remarks towards West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee. The TMC's reaction was triggered by Majumdar's recent use of the term "Dhanda" about Banerjee during a media interaction, which the party deemed as derogatory and indicative of the chauvinistic mindset of the BJP.

TMC Slams BJP Leader for Insulting Mamata Banerjee, Demands Apology

Majumdar's Controversial Statement

During a media interaction, Sukanta Majumdar made controversial remarks about Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee's attire, specifically targeting her sari. Majumdar questioned the source of Banerjee's iPhone and designer saris, implying that she may have obtained them through不正当な手段 (unfair means).

TMC's Strong Rebuke

The TMC launched a scathing attack on the BJP, condemning Majumdar's lewd and offensive remarks. They demanded an unequivocal apology from him, emphasizing that such language was unbecoming of an elected representative. The TMC asserted that the incident highlighted the BJP's anti-women mindset and its commitment to misogyny.

TMC Women's Wing President's Condemnation

TMC women's wing president and West Bengal minister Chandrima Bhattacharya expressed her dismay over Majumdar's choice of words, particularly the use of "Dhanda" when referring to the only woman chief minister in the country. Bhattacharya criticized Majumdar for his lack of understanding of Mamata Banerjee's struggles and political journey, and condemned his words as insulting to women.

TMC Spokesperson's Criticism

TMC spokesperson Kunal Ghosh also criticized Sukanta Majumdar's comments, attributing them to the cheap mindset of the BJP. Ghosh highlighted that Chief Minister Banerjee openly discusses her lifestyle and does not avail herself of the benefits and perks associated with her positions. He asserted that only the BJP would use words like "Dhanda" to disrespect women.

BJP's Response

In response to the TMC's accusations, the BJP dismissed them as an attempt to create an issue out of a non-issue. BJP state spokesperson Samik Bhattacharya denied that Majumdar had made any remarks against the chief minister and accused the TMC of trying to fabricate a controversy.

The TMC's demand for an apology from Sukanta Majumdar reflects the escalating political tensions between the TMC and the BJP in West Bengal. The incident has sparked outrage among TMC leaders and supporters, who view Majumdar's remarks as disrespectful and misogynistic. The BJP's dismissal of the accusations further heightens the conflict between the two parties and sets the stage for potential further confrontations in the future.
