TMC captures two municipal bodies as councillors switch sides

Kolkata, Aug 2: Trinamool Congress captured two municipal bodies in Murshidabad and Purulia districts when a majority of the councillors switched sides today.

Eleven councillors, along with the chairman of the Congress-controlled Ziaganj-Azimganj Municipality in Murshidabad district, joined TMC, while seven councillors of Purulia's Jhalda Municipality did the same.

"Those who have joined Trinamool are doing so to become a part of Mamata Banerjee's agenda of development. We welcome them to TMC," Abhishek Banerjee, senior party leader and nephew of Mamata Banerjee, said.
