Tirupati: Karnataka Government Unveils 132-Room Aihole Complex For Pilgrims

In a significant development aimed at enhancing the pilgrimage experience in Tirupati, Transport and Excise Minister Ramalinga Reddy, recently unveiled 'Aihole,' a new 132-room facility at the Karnataka Rajya Chatra. This initiative is part of a larger Rs 200 crore scheme by the Karnataka government, designed to offer pilgrims three modern residential complexes, a state-of-the-art welfare pavilion, alongside an updated tourist house. Such efforts underscore the government's commitment to ensuring that devotees visiting the revered temple for darshan are accorded comfortable and affordable accommodations.

The inauguration of the Aihole block, which features 132 non-air-conditioned rooms, marks the completion of the first phase in the series of newly constructed residential complexes at the Karnataka Rajya Chatra in Tirupati. This follows the earlier launch of the Hampi Block, which comprises 110 air-conditioned rooms, providing an array of options for the public's convenience. The maintenance fee for each room within this new edifice has been thoughtfully set at Rs 1,350 per 24-hour period, including GST, making it accessible for most pilgrims.

Expanding Accommodations and Facilities for Pilgrims

In Tirumala, the construction of a newly built residential complex has been finalized. It encompasses 36 air-conditioned suites across the Sri Krishnadevaraya and Sri Krishna Wodeyar Blocks. Additionally, a large, modern welfare hall capable of seating 500 people has also been built in Tirumala, reflecting the authorities' dedication to enhancing the welfare of pilgrims. The ongoing project also includes the renovation of existing facilities, with 24 rooms and welfare halls in both the Karnataka Rajya Chatra in Tirupati and Tiruchanur being upgraded for pilgrim use.

Looking ahead, plans are in motion to erect a new building within the Karnataka Rajya Chatra premises. This structure will house 50 well-appointed rooms and commercial shops, further broadening the accommodation and retail options available to visitors. The completion and inauguration of the Kalyana Mantapa block and the VVIP rooms block are anticipated by April or May 2025. These ceremonies are expected to be graced by the Chief Ministers of Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh, symbolizing a collaborative effort between the states to facilitate religious tourism.

Enhancing Accessibility and Convenience for Devotees

To streamline the reservation process and make it more user-friendly for devotees seeking accommodation, the Karnataka Temples Accommodation Reservation Website of the Religious Endowments Department has been set up. This online platform, accessible via https://karnatakatemplesaccommodation.com/e/temples/karnataka-pravasi-saudha-tirumala, allows for efficient booking of rooms. Allocation of rooms is currently set at a split of 60% online and 40% offline, ensuring a balanced approach that accommodates both tech-savvy users and those who may prefer or require in-person booking.

This comprehensive effort to enhance the infrastructure and facilities for pilgrims in Tirupati not only bolsters the spiritual journey of countless devotees but also highlights the government's proactive approach in catering to the needs of religious tourists. By providing well-equipped and affordable accommodations, alongside streamlined reservation processes, the initiative promises a more comfortable and accessible darshan experience for all.

In wrapping up, the dedicated work by the Karnataka government to upgrade and expand the accommodation facilities for pilgrims in Tirupati reflects a significant stride towards elevating the overall experience of visitors. With the phased introduction of modern complexes and the future plans for further enhancements, pilgrims can look forward to a more comfortable, convenient, and enriching visit to one of India's most sacred sites.
