Tipu’s descendants to sue BJP leader for ‘mass rapist’ comment

The family of Tipu Sultan has decided to take legal action against BJP MP, Ananthkumar Hegde. The decision comes in the wake of Hegde calling the 19th century ruler of Mysore a mass rapist and brutal killer.

Hegde made the comments while conveying his decision to the Karnataka government that he did not wish to be part of the Tipu Jayanti celebrations.
Bhaktiar Ali one of the sixth generation descendants has decided to hold a meeting with the rest of the family members before moving the court against the MP's comments.
Ali said that he was taken aback to hear such comments from the MP. He said that Tipu was a revered ruler and such comments have only tarnished his image. We are contemplating legal action against Hegde he also said.
The family members want Hegde to tender an unconditional apology for his comments.
On the other hand, Chief Minister of Karnataka, Siddaramaiah said that Tipu was a freedom fighter who fought against the British.
