Ranchi has more than sleeper cells
Ranchi, Nov 5: Averting a possible terror attack, Jharkhand Police on Monday recovered nine live bombs fitted with timers from a lodge in the state capital, which matched with those used in the Patna blasts that killed six people and left over 80 wounded on October 27.

"All the bombs are fitted with timers, and have been taken to Morahbadi ground to defuse them. No arrest has been made so far," Senior Superintendent of Police Saket Kumar Singh said here.

"The bombs, which matched those used in the blasts (occurred) in Patna, were recovered from a lodge at Hindpiri area in Ranchi," he said, adding there was no arrest in the case.

Narrating on the sequences that led to the seizure, Singh said during some raids it was found that four or five persons, involved in suspicious activities, were seen at Ormanjhi area situated on the outskirts of Ranchi, and the police also got a tip-off about the explosives.

Explosives matched to those used in Patna blasts on Oct 27

From there, he added, the police traced the lodge and seized the explosives. "Three years ago, the talk was about sleeper cells, but now with the (current events) Ranchi has more than sleeper cells," the SSP said.

Earlier Additional Director General of Police S N Pradhan said the explosives were recovered by local police, which has been following a lead for the past two days. The police also seized 19 gelatin sticks and two clocks fitted to the bombs, Inspector General of Police (Zonal) M S Bhatia said.

Each bomb consisted three pipe elbows.
