Timeline From Arrest To Release: Manish Sisodia's Journey Through Delhi Liquor Case

The Supreme Court on Friday granted bail to AAP leader Manish Sisodia in the corruption and money laundering cases linked to the alleged Delhi excise policy scam, noting that he has been in custody for 17 months.

A bench of justices B R Gavai and K V Viswanathan said Sisodia has been in custody for 17 months and trial has not yet commenced, depriving him of the right to speedy trial.

The bench said it would be a travesty of justice to relegate him to the trial court for seeking bail in these cases.

February 26, 2023: Manish Sisodia was arrested by the CBI after multiple rounds of questioning.

February 28, 2023: Sisodia and Satyendar Jain resigned from the Delhi cabinet.

March 9, 2023: Shortly after his CBI arrest, Sisodia was taken into custody by the ED after questioning in Tihar Jail.

March 31, 2023: Sisodia's bail application rejected by trial court. His bail plea in the ED case was similarly rejected.

July 2023: The Delhi High Court refused bail to Sisodia, deeming the allegations "very serious".

October 2023: The Supreme Court denied Sisodia's plea, noting that a money trail of Rs 338 crore was "tentatively established" in the case.

December 2023: The Supreme Court rejected Sisodia's review petition, upholding its earlier decision to deny bail.

February 5, 2024: Sisodia was permitted by a Delhi court to visit his residence to see his ailing wife.

July 16, 2024: The Supreme Court agreed to hear Sisodia's petitions and requested responses from the CBI and ED.
