Tight security in UP ahead of Mahavir Jayanti, Good Friday
Lucknow, Apr 1: Elaborate security arrangements have been made in Uttar Pradesh ahead of Mahavir Jayanti and Good Friday festivals falling back to back, a senior police official said here today.
"Special arrangements have been made for Good Friday, specially in the wake of attacks on minority institutions in some parts of the country," IG (Law and Order) A Satish Ganesh said.

Mahavira Jayanti will be celebrated tomorrow. He informed that 20 companies of Provincial Armed Constabulary (PAC) have been deployed, besides 11 additional companies of PAC have been provided as per the demand.
The IG said that through video-conferencing the DGP has issued detailed instructions to the SPs to make special arrangements at places, like Gorakhpur, Allahabad, Varansi, Lucknow and Meerut, where old and famous churches were located.
He said that it has also been decided that separate checklist should be prepared for the individual festival.
