Three youths drown in sea off Daman coast

, July 26: Three youths today drowned in the sea here. "Bodies of two youths, who were friends, were recovered by the fire-brigade officials," said Moti Daman police station in-charge Anil Tikhe.

Body of the third youth, yet to be identified, was found in Nani Daman area. Sumit Ramnivas Verma (21) and Tiku Suresh Halpati (18) were friends, Tikhe said, adding that Sumit was resident of Maharashtra's Palghar town while Tiku was from Umargam taluka in Valsad.

"Sumit first slipped and was trapped in the high tide. Tiku jumped into the water to save him but he too was swept away," Tikhe said. The third body which police recovered was of an unidentified youth, about 16 years old. The body was found in Bamanpuja river near the coast of Nani Daman.
