Three women Kanwariya pilgrims killed in road accident

Muzaffarpur (Bihar), Aug 2: Three women Kanwariya pilgrims were killed and another injured when they were run over by a speeding truck here, police said today.

The incident took place near Sakri Chowk under Kurhani police station when the speeding truck ran over the four women while they were walking towards Garibsthan temple, Deputy Superintendent of Police Ajay Kumar said.

While three women died on the spot, another sustained injuries. Bodies have been sent for post-mortem and the injured was admitted to a government hospital, police said.

Efforts are on to ascertain the identity of victims, they said.

The truck driver fled from the spot with his vehicle after the accident, he said, adding local people blocked the road in protest against the accident.
